The Mystique of Louboutin

Christian Louboutin helped bring stilettos back into fashion in the 1990s and 2000s, designing dozens of styles with heel heights of 120mm (4.72 inches) and higher. The designer's professed goal is to “make a woman look sexy, beautiful, to make her legs look as long as [he] can.” While he does offer some lower-heeled styles, Louboutin is generally associated with his dressier evening wear designs incorporating bejeweled straps, bows, feathers, patent leather and other, similar decorative touches.

In his U.S. trademark application, Louboutin explains the inception of the signature red soles:

"In 1992 I incorporated the red sole into the design of my shoes. This happened by accident as I felt that the shoes lacked energy so I applied red nail polish to the sole of a shoe. This was such a success that it became a permanent fixture."

Louboutin also received inspiration for his infamous, lethal-looking stilettos from an incident that occurred in his early twenties. He had visited a museum and noticed that there was a sign that forbade women to enter while wearing sharp stilettos, for fear of damage to the extensive wood flooring. This image stayed in his mind, and he later used this idea in his designs. "I wanted to defy that," Louboutin has said. "I wanted to create something that broke rules and made women feel confident and empowered."

Christian Louboutin has topped The Luxury Institute's annual Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) for 3 years; the brand's offerings were declared the Most Prestigious Women's Shoes in 2007, 2008 and 2009. - Credit Wikipedia

The mystique of the Louboutin heel is one that is not such a big mystery. Even guys who have no fashion sense or do not know what is high fashion or chic or whatever still know they cannot go wrong buying a woman some Louboutin heels. Ok, aside from the fact that they have the red bottom which is the most known sole in the world for women's footwear, besides the fact that the near mention of them makes almost every woman between the age of 21-45 salivate profusely, they're just plain sexy! There is no denying that a Louboutin heel alone is sexy. A 4-6 inch heel on a woman period makes a man look at her legs and just stare in general...when adding the Christian Louboutin flair of the heel, it is damn near impossible for any man to resist. The lifeline of this show may be safe to say is everlasting....as long as there are women who want to give their legs more length or need that perfect finishing touch to an already sexy outfit, Louboutin will be there! Prices range from "you've got to be kidding" to "I can't by anything else after these"...but they're so worth it. Women take it from a straight guy...Invest in some Louboutin heels the benefits far outweigh the initial cost!

SOCIAL MEDIA SITES AKA STALKERS' PARADISE

This post was due to recent occurrences in the last few weeks. (Circa 8/17/09-9/13/09)
I recently noticed that I've had more than a few "coincidence" run-ins with some people who I usually just speak with on social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter. I thought nothing of it...was happy to see them, exchanged the usual generic conversation and went on with my enjoying of whatever event or place I was in at the time. Then these "run-ins" were becoming way too frequent at some places where I knew these certain individuals did not frequent. Just when I started to gain a suspicion, I made a crucial error from my Blackberry...I sent out a tweet on Twitter, but I just recently updated my version of UberTwitter on my phone and did not notice I hadn't taken off the ADD LOCATION feature from every tweet. So I posted a simple thought that came to mind however, it would prove to be the scariest tweet ever. When I checked the tweet to see if I wrote it right after it posted, I noticed it had the exact location I was in...a space that was off limits to everyone...my sanctuary. So I immediately took the feature off, but be fore warned...this can happen to you!

A MEAN SHOE GAME HEELS EVERYTHING!

My friends who happen to be in different fields of music, publications and fashion always tease me about my heel fetish with women. I have literally seen beautiful women who have turned me off because of their flats they're wearing. Now women, I'm realistic, I know you cannot wear heels every moment of your life (even though I would love that!), but flats?!!! No bueno!

There is no way I could find these nightmares attractive!!!...It's like this women, say you saw a man with all the physical qualifications you love walking towards you and you are so ready to speak to him and see what he's about...now he's face to face with you about to speak the first word and he opens his mouth where you discover he only has 2 teeth! How anti-climatic is that?!

That's how it feels when I see a beautiful woman dressed nicely, good hair, nice smile, beautiful skin, nice frame, and I look down and she has on flats! It's the most anti-climatic point of sight on you...Heels prop the legs up, show off all the definition in your legs, give a lift to the booty and just plain look sexy! Now in one decision you've thrown all those positives out the window for the most anti-climatic accessory a woman can have...flats! Why?!! How can walking on a strip of flat canvas be comfortable...especially in New York with concrete sidewalks...I just don't understand...so I'll keep my desire to see all women in heels and keep hating flats...Yes I know hate is a harsh word and it's meant to be!

Now women, always say..."I can't be in heels all day, my feet need to relax...and heels mess up your toes...blah, blah, blah...ok, here's the solution...buy some cute sneakers and keep it moving. Guys love a woman in cute sneakers or heels, but flats...I will never understand!...Ever!

NY FASHION WEEK'S OPENING NIGHT APPROACHES!

NY FASHION WEEK '09
SEPT.10TH-17TH
Are You Ready?
There are two seasons which I admit are a guilty pleasure strictly due to my love of fashion, Spring & Fall. These two seasons play background to the best weeks for fashion in New York, NY Fashion Week's Spring & Fall shows. This is where the who's who from every walk of life meet from one common interest, fashion. This week on Thursday Sept. 10th Fashion Week begins once again in New York.

Between handling pr for one of the opening night shows (NYFC's Clash of the Coutures 2010 Collection Show - shameless client plug) , securing press credentials for the different shows within the tents at Bryant Park and off site, and looking for new designs and clothing to pull for some clients' upcoming editorial and feature shoots, myself and my firm are swamped; and we love it! So, during our escapades and my adventures of this upcoming Fashion Week I will definitely try to bring you as many images and perspectives from inside the tents and the shows. See you on the runway!

WELL I HEARD....HE'S A.....

RUMORS, RUMORS & SECRETS

I have owned my own business since 2005 (Thank God)!. In the 4 years that I have solely supported myself with no 9-5 but more rather a 24 job (which owning your own business is), I have had some bumps in the road, some deals gone bad (some were my fault), I have mislead people (unintentionally), and have definitely had my fair share of disappointments.

I say all that to say
,
Rumors and Secrets have been constantly spread about me....from he's a player, to he's a liar, to he's mean in business, to even as far as he's gay (Are your serious!!!!!??????).
So let me set the record straight on a few things,

1. Never
have and never will be gay...that was just crazy to even hear that about me. (SMH)

2. It
is my own fault about being labeled a liar at times. I am one who likes to share with my friends and those I thought were my friends (frienemies is more like it) good things that are happening or about to happen in my life. [I am one who roots for everyone and always tries to help people win and hope they wish the same for me] So I would share information with those that I thought were close about possible great things that are happening for me...THEN, the great things, for whatever reason, do not pan out...and instead of going back to everyone and saying that it didn't happen and why...I just move on and try to make something else happen. This is where I go wrong....because when people do not see the great thing that I previously mentioned to them happening and I fail to explain that it didn't or why it didn't; they assume I lied about the who situation. This is where I can see my flaw. I naively share my joy and possible good fortune with too many, thinking they are genuinely happy for me when they could either care less or wish bad upon me. This has come back to haunt me more than a few times. However, in the ripe old age of 32..I have learned my lesson...I will be closed lip to everyone except my SETLIST (you will know who they are very soon...and wow what a powerful group of people).

3. The rumor about me being a player is unfortunately my past catching up with me...I will admit from ages 21-24...I thought I was God's gift to women...lol (Boy was I wrong!)...so to all those women that knew me then, I truly apologize and any women that feel I've wronged them I apologize...I hope you found a man that realized your worth and treated or treats you as a queen.

4. Lastly, the rumor about me being mean or underhanded in business...is completely false...I work hard to earn every cent my firm makes...now there have been some that have been shorted along the way...only because I was shorted...some that didn't get paid because I never received a check...even till this day!!!! So to those that feel they were owed money like I feel...I know all your names and am working towards accumulating a lump sum enough to pay everyone more than they deserve and see the rumors that spread then!...I'm sure they'll be new ones!...LOL...So, they'll be a part II to this entry...Until next time,

Remember this quote from the bible "He who has not sinned cast the first stone" Would you be able to throw the first one?

FEEL LIKE GOING FOR A SPIN?

It's a Friday night and for some reason you are restless, called your friends and everyone is doing their own thing tonight...You still feel like the city's calling you, but you don't know what you want to do. A movie?, nah...that's not the vibe tonight....a club?...but which one, and who likes to go to a club by themselves...hmmmm, a drive?!, yeah a long drive...but to where...Well, who cares to where when you're driving this....

Introducing the 2010 Complete New Body Lotus Evora.
The car features a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V-6 (a thoroughly revised version of the Toyota Camry’s engine, in fact) producing 276 horsepower and 258 foot-pounds of torque. Lotus claims the 3,046-pound Evora will charge to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and press on to a top speed of 162 mph. The fiberglass-bodied car is built around Lotus’s bonded-aluminum Versatile Vehicle Architecture, which is lightweight yet exceedingly rigid. Inside, hand-stitched hide and a touch-screen GPS navigation system belie the Evora’s racetrack readiness. The front buckets, says Lotus, are generously designed to accommodate two “American males” (indeed the company’s own CEO, Mike Kimberly, stands six-foot-five), and petite rear seats make two-plus-two motoring a possibility—for short trips, at least. Pricing for the U.S. market hasn’t been announced yet, but expect the Evora to run close to its prime rival, the $76,300 Porsche 911 Carrera, when it rolls into Lotus showrooms next January. And it won’t be long after that convertible and supercharged variants break cover. - Robb Report

OH YOU MODELING MA?!

Before I make any comments....allow me to share some pictures with you

Disclaimer: These Models are not managed by F1GMedia & in no way do I or my firm frown upon their work. Their pictures are only being shown as a point of reference.

Now by the looks of the images...these two models are worlds apart. One is more eye candy and one is more fashion campaign-ish. The one at the very top is modeling, how shall we say... her assets more than a particular piece of clothing or brand, however, the two images under her are more geared towards modeling a brand or a fashion campaign.

Now, both women consider themselves models, as they should...but, their styles are worlds apart...from everything to the look on down to type of shot and clothing.

There is one thing both models have in common...
the reality shock of how tough it is to survive or even make a name for yourself in this billion dollar industry. I have managed models since 2005 and have had some good, bad and ugly moments. There is one common aspect I have come to grips with within this field, it is a cold-hearted, no sympathy and sometimes degrading industry.

The lifeline of a model can be as long as 20 yrs or as short as 20hrs. There is no safe bet or safety net, just a crap shoot the entire ride. So to all those aspiring models, who have done 10-20 photoshoots and never been in a published magazine or fashion campaign or on runway (You're an aspiring model, you're not a model yet)...be careful when you choose this life as a profession. I have seen women do some of the most degrading things for a shot at "making it". Now mind you, these women were women with children, some of the women were older than me at the time, some walked around with their noses up at everything and yet there they were on their knees doing things for a big break (Not to me!).

Another thing...ladies who have curvy bodies and want to pursue "modeling", do not think the eye candy/booty shoots or videos are your only option...take some nice headshots, take some shots of just your legs, just your arms etc. Body part models get paid good money and I've known some women who have been able to earn a decent living off of modeling their body parts (ex. watches and pantyhose - where do u think the wrist or legs come from in those ads!) I also say take headshots because hair and make-up campaigns/tradeshows pay good money to models selected....no matter how your body looks.

I'm just tired of 7 out of 10 models that approach me about representing them ask me if I can book them in videos and get them in magazines...and they don't mean editorials, they mean Show, BlackMen's (nothing wrong those mags...shouts to Cummings Media & Blassingame Media) and Smooth. However, those magazines do not pay...and if they do now it is a very small stipend...so what are you going to do after you've been in 10 magazines that maybe 5 have paid you and 5 wrote it off as exposure?....You have to think longer term ladies. Respect modeling as a career and not a hobby and you may start being treated like you have a career and are not a hobby!

OK, now pose for the camera!

FALL BACK! GENTLEMEN WAKE UP!

A NEW DAY IS UPON US, GENTLEMEN!

Gentlemen, Fall is now upon us within the New York area. This usually means two things to the fashion forward male of the Metropolis, Fashion Week is approaching (Ok, maybe I threw in a personal one right there!) and the adding of heavier fabrics/clothes to the wardrobe selections. I stood by season after season and watched my fellow males make horrible decisions on outfit selections for occasions such as: red carpet events, semi-formal dinners, N.Y. nightlife, dates with that special lady and the list goes on. Well that "stand by time" has come to an end.

Gentlemen, ladies are maturing gracefully while we're maturing backwards. A well dressed woman expects her man to look like a man, not a guy who looks like he can't let go of his high school and college attire. The sagging jeans that hit your ankle and have more than 3 wrinkle rows in them at the bottom is a thing of the past.

If You are over 23...it's time to leave this phase of your life.

Though I am not a fan of the skinny jeans syndrome that seems to have swept our country. Jeans that actually fit and aren't 5 times our size and that actually start at our waist are now a good look; they work well with tailored cut blazers, button down collared shirts (preferably a nice shirt your actual size, not one that still fits like a xxl t-shirt ) *sidenote - Start remembering your collar/neck size and sleeve length.

But I'll break it down further:
The Male Blazer

My Top 3 Choices:
Corduroy: Every man could use a corduroy blazer in his wardrobe. A corduroy blazer is the perfect jacket when you want to be casual but smartly dressed. Even if you don't wear sport coats too often, you'll want to have one of these.

Camel: Camel hair sport coats are a classic, and they work well for cooler weather. More lunch at the country club than evening out with friends, a camel hair blazer can be worn over a polo shirt or a button-down shirt. The light brown color lets these blazers work well with dark brown or navy pants.

Navy: If you're looking for the preppy, nautical look that blazer, a navy blazer -- with or without brass buttons -- is the perfect choice. Wear a navy blazer with almost any color of pants: grey, brown, tan, even olive. If you do opt for the brass buttons, be sure to wear a gold watch and belt buckle to coordinate.

The Shirt & Tie Combo

I
cannot stress enough the power in a well put together shirt and tie combination. It can either make your outfit or break your outfit. Try not to always think inside the box when selecting your duo. Look for non-traditional colors that can combine with other darker or lighter colors nicely. Above are two examples of a light and a dark combo coming together.

The Shoe

As you can see above, I've given you 3 different styles of shoes to choose from. If you are just trying to make the conversion over to dress shoes from wearing boots and sneakers all day, you might want to start with the classic shoestring dress shoes (so you still have the sense of a sneaker or boot feel with the laces). However, if you are ready to shake things up a bit, you might go for the different style of loafers pictured to the right of the shoestring traditional shoe. Fellas, believe me, the shoes are one of the first things women look to as an indication of a well dressed and groomed man. Ask a woman you know that you may be attracted to or already date.

Accessorize
your style

Keep in mind gentlemen, flare of your outfit is your own. It always helps to have a nice timepiece and some cuff links nearby. Not saying the fancy watch and cuff links are a necessity every night, however, for those men who would like to be the James Bond in the room, or even the Humphrey Bogart by the bar...class and style are 2 combinations that women find irresistible.

Well Gentlemen, in conclusion...the day of looking like a man who cannot let go of his teenage years is over. These women, spend tons of money on beautiful heels (YES!, I have a heel fetish...they are the sexiest accessory ever for a woman), blouses, skirts, ensembles everything and in return we give them over baggy clothes,a maybe ironed t-shirt or too big button down and get mad when they don't give us a second look. Recognize change...a new era is upon us...are you ready to be a Today's Man. Only you can answer that.....
